NEW DELHI: The vast legacy network of India Post, once perceived to be unwanted baggage and a huge financial burden, is turning out to be its biggest strength. Top global financial firms Barclays, Citibank, Deutsche Bank, Western Union, Visa and domestic giants State Bank of India and Punjab National Bank are among over five dozen companies that have queued up to partner with the payments bank arm of the country's postal department.

Even the International Finance Corporation, a member of the World Bank Group, has shown interest in picking up a stake in the business.

There are nearly 1.5 lakh post offices across the country, 1.3 lakh in rural India. A modernisation drive across these branches and rollout of core banking solutions and ATMs has attracted the attention of the big boys of the financial world looking at opportunities in banking, MFs, insurance and money transfer.

Core Systems Integration (CSI) is a major update in postal department.We call it a positive change towards achieving long term strategic goal which reads "Achieve the long term goal of financial self-sufficiency by generating surpluses from services (existing & new) outside our universal service obligation".
TCS is the CSI Vendor for DoP.
Following solutions will  shape the customer centric organisation in right way.

Mail Operations will offer reliable mail delivery services, by using robust IT Systems for improving article tracking and volume visibility.
Logistics Post will provide end-to-end supply chain services through a technology-driven logistics network.
Finance & Accounts will automate accounting operations and bring efficiencies in day-to-day business areas like Cash Management, Asset Accounting, Budgeting, Inventory Management, Procurement and Liability Management.
Human Resource Management will maintain a single repository of employee data and improve HR Administration activities like Recruitment, Training, Promotion Payroll and Performance Management. It will also provide an Internal Portal which will allow the employees to perform self-service transactions, like apply leave, view/edit personal data etc.
Customer Interaction Channels will provide customer services through Call Centre, Web Portal and Mobile Devices. It will also enhance the functionalities of Post office counters.

FAQ ON ATM SERVICE FROM POST OFFICE

Post Office will offer ATM service to its Savings Bank customers . FAQ available.

Initially, following services will be available to POSB customers at ATMs:- Cash Withdrawal, Fast Cash, Balance Inquiry, Mini Statement, Funds Transfer (Funds Transfer within OWN Savings Accounts of POSB), Funds Transfer (Funds Transfer to other Savings Accounts of POSB), Pin Change.

POSB ATM Cards can be used in only DoP ATMs and other bank ATM Cards cannot be used in DOP ATMs.

Depositor who wants to have ATM/Debit Card will submit application in the prescribed form at the post office where account stands.
What will be the maximum amount of money which can be withdrawn from ATMs in a single day?
Maximum amount that can be withdrawn from ATMs in a single day will be Rs.25000/- and at a time, Rs 10,000/-.

HR SOLUTION - A BRIEF DOCUMENT FOR DOP

HR Solution As a part of the IT Modernisation Project, HR Solution will be implemented across India covering all the offices of the Department of Post. HR Solution will enable the DoP employees to perform various HR Management tasks, such as Employee Joining Process, Personnel Records, Leave Management, Performance Management, Transfer Process, Recruitment, Retirement etc. Why is the HR Solution needed by The Department of Posts Presently the department is facing challenges related to various HR Management tasks as under - : 
 Human Intervention at various stages: For every HR Management related process the various stages require manual activity for processing. This results in delay in decision making and communication, and also results in lack of transparency and uniformity in application of rules. 
 Duplication of work: Statements (reports) are created manually and maintained in registers. As the volume of data is high, there is a lot of duplication and delay in collation and recording of the information across the administrative offices. 
 No standard format for data: Disparate systems such as MS-Excel or MS-Word and different templates are being used across offices. 
 Lack of accountability: Lack of measurable Key Performance Indicators or Key Result Areas to ensure accountability of each role and to be measured against the same. 
 Maintenance of data: A lot of time, effort and resources are spent in compilation and revision of HR data. Data audit is a challenge in the current process which would lead to data inconsistency and impact reports and various processes. 
 Data usage across various processes: Data collected in the course of a particular process cannot be used by some other process in real time basis. For example, information noted in APAR with regard to Training Needs of an employee is not available to Training Manager on real time basis. Hence the employees cannot be nominated to a relevant training course based on the such information noted in the APAR.
 Workload analysis is not available in real time:  The deployment of manpower is based on workload analysis made on the basis of sample data once a year for HO and once in three years in SO. Due to this accurate manpower is planning and utilization is not possible.
